It is important to check your braces and the wires.  If anything comes loose, a wire is out of place or bent, please call our office to make an appointment as soon as possible to fix this problem.

Tooth Pain

If your teeth are sore after an orthodontic adjustment, you can take any pain killer you are familiar to, except Aspirin, we recommend you to take Motrin 600mgs or Tylenol, while you get used to the appliances.  You can also use wet hot towels or mouth rinses with warm water with salt to reduce the swelling in your gums.

Irritations on soft tissues due to wire impingement.

If the wire is hurting your cheeks or gums, try to remove it from the area where it is causing problems. With a Q-tip, withdraw the wire from the hurting spot, or do it with the eraser of your pencil.  If the wire cannot be moved, try to cover the end of the wire with a small cotton pellet or put orthodontic wax to cover it.  If it keeps bothering you, you can try to cut the wire with nail clippers, or some cutting pliers or scissors previously washed and sterilized with alcohol. 

Loose bracket

If a bracket comes loose… First, call the office to fix an appointment, a loose bracket can delay the treatment time.  If it bothers you, try removing it with some clippers or some scissors and carefully put it away to take it to the office on your appointment, avoiding therefore, any extra cost.

Separator lost.

If you loose a separator… Call the office, we need to evaluate if it is necessary to replace it, this way the space won’t close up and then you will not need to go to another appointment.

Sensitive Teeth

In case of sensitive teeth, especially sensitive to cold, it is advisable that you use special toothpaste, the name is BEXIDENT for Sensitive Teeth, also you can do mouth rinses with BEXIDENT Mouth rinse (that has Potassium Nitrate at 5%).

Swollen gums

If your gums are bleeding when you brush your teeth and they look fat and/or red, that may be an indication that they are swollen, this is due to a bad brushing technique.  In this case you should see a specialist in gums, a Periodontist; meanwhile, you should use a medicated tooth paste that together with the brushing will help you deal with this problem called Gingivitis.  You can use BEXIDENT Triclosan tooth paste, with BEXIDENT Gums, mouth rinse or BEXIDENT Gums gel.

How to use this medicine BEXIDENT.

BEXIDENT Sensitive Teeth tooth paste.

Brush your teeth three times a day after each meal for 2-3 minutes.

BEXIDENT Sensitive Teeth mouth rinse.

You should use it after brushing you teeth.  Fill the measurement cup up to the line 15ml, and rinse your mouth with it with out adding any more water, 2 or 3 times a day during 30 or 60 seconds.  Do not rinse with water after rinsing with the solution.  Do not eat or drink after 30 minutes post application.

BEXIDENT Triclosan tooth paste.

Brush your teeth three times a day after each meal for 2-3 minutes.

BEXIDENT Gums mouth rinse.

It is recommended to use it after brushing you teeth.  Fill the measuring cup up to the line 15ml, and rinse your mouth without adding any more water, 2 or 3 times a day during 30 or 60 seconds.  Do not rinse with water after rinsing with the solution.

Do not eat or drink or smoke after 30 minutes post application.

 BEXIDENT Gums gel.

Apply it after brushing your teeth with a syringe or with a soft toothbrush in the specified area 3 or 3 times a day and do not rinse after putting it on. Do not eat or drink or smoke after 30 minutes post application.
